What to Write in Your Bridal Shower Thank You Notes

1

Thank the guest

First off, remember to get the name of the guest right! Use the nickname you know to show your personal gratitude in the notes. Think about any particular action or event in your bridal shower that you would like them to remember. If it means so much to you, mention it! A note is only meant to be short and sweet, after all. Thank them for their presence at your bridal bash. If they were not able to make it, don’t throw even a hint of shade at them for it and instead talk about how much you wish they were with you on that special day. These thank you notes must stay positive, to show your love and gratefulness.

2

Express your love for the gift

The gifts that the guest or non-guest gave should be acknowledged in your note. This signifies your attentiveness and sincerity about your letter of gratitude. If it is a concrete gift, likely to be something for your new home, then express gratitude by saying how well it will fit in your new life. If it is a personal and intimate gift, relate it to your personal relationship. If it is a cash gift, don’t mention the amount and just call it generous. Mention how you will put the gift to use!

3

Inject your true feelings

It’s extremely easy to rave about a gift that you absolutely love, but what if the gift isn’t really your or your partner’s style? One thing is for sure, do not feel guilty about feeling that way about a gift! Your opinion is yours and that does not make the value and intention of the gift any less. Just don’t exaggerate and all out rave about the gift if you did not like it. Be truthful in your bridal shower thank you notes, but still be civil and do not mention any of your opinions. It’s the thought that counts!

4

A warm closing

The last few words should reinforce the importance of the person being addressed in your new married life. Express how you are excited for the new life and love their involvement for celebrating your final days as a single.

Tips

  • Hand write the thank you notes. Bridal shower thank you notes are supposed to be personal, so keep it this way.

  • Do NOT combine your bridal shower thank you note and your wedding thank you note. They are two separate events to be thankful for, and if you do a two-in-one, that’s just plain lazy!

  • Send your thank you note within 2 weeks after the bridal shower. Don’t leave your gratitude out to be stale, send the notes before they forget about your bridal shower!

  • Sign the thank you note with the groom. The bridal shower celebrates you as a bride from now own. Complete this by asking your significant other’s thank you as well!

  • Write a thank you note to everyone who attended or helped in your bridal shower, and make each note warm and personal. Note the name and their presence, whether host, guest, or vendor. They helped make it possible.

  • Keep a record of the guests attended the bridal shower and the gifts they gave you. This will help you keep track of who gave what and to whom you should really be thanking!

  • The note does not have to be long. No novels please! Be brief and be honest – that’s how you get through.
